The Ascendancy was one of the first true joint projects between Thrawn's Household Phalanx and the Imperial forces he brought with him to establish the Empire of the Hand. It draws from the principles of both the Imperial-class and the earlier Venator-class, resulting in a self-sufficient fleet carrier.
