IFT-X Ingame

The TX-130 Saber-class Fighter Tank, also known as the IFT-X, is a Pentastar Alignment and Greater Maldrood heavy vehicle. It is armed with a beam cannon, 2 laser cannons, and a missile launcher.

History[]

The TX-130 Saber-class fighter tank was used by the Galactic Republic throughout the Clone Wars. Sometimes referred to as the "Jedi starfighter of the ground," many Jedi piloted these tanks, using the Force to achieve the maximum potential that these incredibly fast craft possessed. The tank was phased out shortly after the formation of the Galactic Empire, replaced by stronger variants such as the TX-130T fighter tank and the 2-M Saber-class Repulsor Tank.

Most of the remaining IFT-Xs were relegated to backwater Imperial systems such as Oversector Outer. Upon the formation of the Pentastar Alignment, these tanks would once again see frontline duty when they were pressed back into service as part of the Pentastar's armored calvary.

The IFT-X, like the LAAT/i, looks very similar to its Imperial Remnant counterpart, the 2-M. Like the 2-M, the TX-130 is fast, shielded, and packs a heavy punch on a light frame. Unlike the Imperial Dropship Transport and LAAT/i, however, the IFT-X and 2-M function very similarly to each other. The primary difference is greater speed and lack of a 360° firing arc. Thus, TX-130s cannot flank as effectively, but are extremely useful at hit and fade attacks. They are also decent against infantry (though not as good as specialized anti-infantry units). Their diverse weapon load allows them to pack a good punch against nearly anything, and do so very quickly.
