Influence is a mechanic within Empire at War Expanded that affects planet loyalty, unrest, and can provide unique units to each faction within Thrawn's Revenge. Each planet has a loyalty level based on various factors. This influence level (rated 1 through 10) has several effects; including the chance to accumulate unrest stacks (3 unrest stacks will cause a revolt, leading to the planet to rebel against its current faction) and decreased credit output with lower influence, and other planet or faction-specific bonuses when at certain levels. Influence updates at the end of each cycle, so the impact of events that change influence may not be immediately felt.

Influence Factors[]

  • Base Influence: 5 (Some planets vary by faction, listed below)
  • Local Government Building: +1
  • Faction Capital Building: +3
  • Corporation Building: +1
  • Local Development Structure: +2
  • All Ground Structure Slots Full: +1
  • All Space Structure Slots Full: +1 (Starbase, Economic, Construction, Secondary Defense)
  • Tax Agency: -2
  • Labor Camp: -2
  • Blockade: 20% Chance of -1 Influence Per Cycle (If Under 4 Ground Structures)

Other factors increasing and decreasing influence are being implemented with each release.

Influence Effects[]

  • Influence 1: -100% Base Income Reduction | -40 Absolute Credit Reduction
  • Influence 2: -50% Base Income Reduction | -50 Absolute Credit Reduction
  • Influence 3: -15% Base Income Reduction

Revolts[]

Having Low Influence levels (1-3) on a planet can cause Unrest. High Influence (6+) removes Unrest. A planet will revolt one cycle after getting a third Unrest Stack. All forces currently located on that planet will retreat to another planet. Control of that planet will flip to their preferred faction.

Unrest Stacks:[]

  • Influence 1: 100% Chance to get 1 Unrest Stack
  • Influence 2: 50% Chance to get 1 Unrest Stack
  • Influence 3: 33% Chance to get 1 Unrest Stack
  • Influence 4-5: No changes
  • Influence 6+: Removes 1 Unrest Stack per Cycle

Local Fighters[]

Local Fighters will fight in space battles with the defender at 7+ influence, will be neutral at 5-6 influence, or with the attacker at 4 or lower.
