The MC80 Liberty Cruiser, also referred to as the Liberty Cruiser or the MC80 Liberty, is a Heavy Frigate and Starfighter Carrier buildable by the New Republic in Thrawn's Revenge, and also available to the Corporate Sector Authority via the Ship Market, and the Hutt Cartels and Galactic Empire via Boarding Shuttles. This Star Cruiser is notable for being one of the major ships used by the Rebel Alliance before the Battle of Endor, and it sees continued use by New Republic fleets into the early years of the post-Endor campaigns, before being phased out of production in 9 ABY.
Unit Description[]
An Alliance-era Mon Calamari starship retrofitted for action as a moderately armed ship of the line. The Liberty-type was originally designed for civilian use or to be converted into warships despite being built to civilian specifications. It is well protected due to Mon Calamari shield technologies and a large amount of redundant emitters, but it is lacking in firepower compared to similarly sized vessels. It is best used as a cheap or low-priority line cruiser until other options are available.

Usage[]
An older ship, the MC80 Liberty still has its place in New Republic fleets. A Starfighter Carrier, it is one of the few sources for the New Republic to get early heavy bombers in the form of the H-wing. As with most Starfighter Carriers, it is advisable to keep the Liberty Cruisers at the back of a fleet, however unlike many smaller carriers, the Liberty has quite potent shields as well as the "Power to Shields" ability to increase its lifespan. The MC80 Liberty has 8 Single Medium Turbolasers, that fire two shots every 1.67 seconds, and 4 Single Medium Ion Cannons, that fire two shots every 2.0 seconds. Both the Turbolasers and the Ion Cannons have a range of 6.2km, giving their weapons an effective range over five times the cruisers own length.
